Shikarpur is one of the small city that lies in the region of Sindh province. Shikarpur has river floating on the eastern side. This river is used for irrigation purposes. The Indus River is 29 kilometers away from this city. The elevation of this place is 13 meters. It also has a railway station and it connects this city towards other cities of this country. Sukkur is the closest of these cities, well talking about the population it is 155400. The postal code of this city is 78100. Historians of this city says that it was developed by Kalhora dynasty. At that time this dynasty was one of the leading dynasty of all time and it had this city as the main point. One of the other myths says that the city was developed by the cousins of Kaolhotras known as the Daudpotas. The city was named after the name local known as the hunt which in local language is called as Shikar. This city has many developed markets which offer various goods and are send to different parts of Sindh as well. It was the talup mirs of this place back then which used to Shikar and after that they names this city as Shikarpur. At this place many different species of Birds flew and nawabs of that time used to hunt them. This city at back times was made the center of trade. The import and export of this place was always a welcoming sign as the businessmen of that time were very happy of the progress. They tried their best to keep this city shaped in a way that always goes into the profits. One of the important markets there is known as Dhak Bazar. Shikarpur after that has been a center of attraction for many invaders and many people came here and resided at this place. The place has acquired till then economic and financial status in Sindh. This was also called as the emerald city of south Asia. One of the main pass at this place is Bolan Pass. Shikarpur was later made the manufacturer of Brass and metal goods. People also worked on carpets, cotton cloth and embroidery. All of these things still are made under these markets. The concentration of this place says that it is mostly dominated by Muslims and has its roots for Hindus as well. The Baloch and Urdu speaking people are more in quantity and the population of Muslims are mostly Sunni and Shias. Though people can work on English language to raise their living standards.
