Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had a meeting with the leader of the opposition in parliament Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah to discuss the arrangements for the caretaker government to hold the next general election on time. He further said that Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) will complete its constitutional term which will end on May 31st, 2018, and the caretaker government will hold the general elections on time.
During the press conference after the meeting PM said told media that government is working on to select the caretaker government and it will also take suggestions from the opposition as well and the general elections would be held in-time as neither there was any Constitutional provision to delay the election nor it would be in the interest of the country. PM was responding to a question when he said that If National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court orders for the arrest of former PM Mian Nawaz Sharif government will obey the court orders and will cooperate and facilitate the law to arrest former PM but people of Pakistan will not accept this. He further said that Jail is not the new place for sharif family.
In res[ponse to a question regarding his meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP)Justice Saqib Nisar, the prime minister said during the meeting we discussed challenges faced by the country and also express their views on the issues related to the executive and judiciary and presented their point of views.
