We have heard news of school shootings occurring in America almost every week. American authorities have thus far been unable to impose gun control laws due to their so-called “freedom” being affected by such restrictions.
Another incident which occurred at Santa Fe school, Texas, drew a huge attention towards the American school shootings as a Pakistani exchange student Sabika Sheikh became a victim of gun violence. Sabika Sheikh was among the 10 students massacred at the Santa Fe school on Friday when a student opened fire.
Sabika Sheikh, an 18 year old from Karachi, was an exchange student who was studying on scholarship at the Santa Fe School, Texas. The shooter Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17 year old student, began this fatal assault using a .38 caliber pistol and a shotgun he had acquired from his father. A teacher also fell victim to the massacre.
Sabika Sheikh was brilliant student, the eldest among her four siblings. Her father Abdul Aziz Sheikh still can not believe that his genius daughter has just disappeared all of a sudden.
At such a young age she would say such huge things, that sometimes I couldn’t believe it. Even now I cannot believe that my daughter is gone. -Abdul Aziz Sheikh
The American government has thus neglected their duties in imposing gun control laws, choosing their “freedom” is greater than the lives of so many innocent students lost in such massacres. Reports suggest that the shooter had also left behind explosives and molotov cocktails. America has always been considered a “safe haven” for people, security, protection and whatnot. As if hate crimes weren’t enough, the American government has also failed to protect the live of its own children and youth in its ignorance.
