The Supreme Court of Pakistan has announced its verdict on the contempt of court case against State Interior Minister and leader of the ruling party PML(N) Talal Chaudhry. A three-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan heard the contempt of court case against state minister Talal Chaudhry.
According to the reports Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Mian Saqib Nisar took suo moto notice of Chaudhry’s contemptuous speeches against the judiciary and honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan. On February 1, 2018. During one of his speech in the public gathering in Jarranwala Chaudhry criticised the judiciary by saying “There was an era when the Kaabah was full of idols. Today, the judiciary, which is the country’s highest institution, is also full of PCO [Provisional Constitution Order] idols. Mian Nawaz Sharif, throw them out, throw him out of the court. They will not give justice but will continue their injustices”.
In many other speeches, he accused the judiciary to be biased towards PML(N), after the disqualification of his former party leader Mian Nawaz Sharif. Many other PML(N) leaders like Danial Aziz and Senator Nehal Hashmi were also charged with Contempt of court due to their speeches in public gathering or any statement given on social or electronic media.
