Sajjad Ali is a Pakistani singer whose chosen genre is semi classical pop music. Over the years he has also dabbled in acting, directing and producing. He was given the nickname ‘Gaggi bhai’ by the public to show their love and support for his work. Although he entered the industry as a pop musician, he soon established himself as a semi classical pop musician.
Sajjad Ali’s Age and Education
Sajjad Ali was born on the 24th of August, 1966 in Karachi to a Shia Muslim family. He showed musical talent from a very young age. Sajjad completed his F.A. from National Art’s college which led to further familial encouragement to pursue music. This led him to study classical piano at the university of Karachi, enrolled in the BA program.
Sajjad Ali’s Musical career
Sajjad Ali apprenticed under well-known classical musicians in order to hone his talent. This includes classical artists like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustaad Barkat Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan. His first classical music album was released in 1979, titled ‘Master sajjad sings memorable classics’ which collaborated with other classical singers and writers that include ‘Hasrat Mohani’ and ‘Momin’. He lent his music to numerous television channels singing songs like Noor Jehan’s famous ‘Banwari Chokari’ and others including ‘Lagi Ray Lagay Lagan Yehe Dil Mein’. He has also collaborated with his brother, Waqar Ali on many songs.
Sajjad Ali’s Film and Television Career
Sajjad directed his first telefim ‘Love Letter’ in 1989 and then his first film ‘Aik aur love story’ a decade later in 1998. He has also acted in films like “munda tera deewana’ under the direction of Zahoor Hussain Gillani. Recently he has lent his voice to Shoaib Mansoor’s ‘Bol’ and coke studio.
Sajjad Ali’s Family Life
Sajjad’s family is filled with cricketers including his father Shafqat Hussain and his uncle Tassaduq Hussain. The family is also rich in music lovers and musicians as both of Sajjad’s bothers; Waqar Ali and Lucky Ali are musicians. He married Noureen Sajjad in 1989 and they have two sons and two daughters.
