Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan is a Pakistani politician and the Deputy Speaker of the Fourteenth Punjab Assembly in Pakistan from PP-149 (Lahore-XIII).
Education and Family of Rana Mashhood
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, who is the son of Rana Abdul Rahim Khan, was born on August 26, 1966 in Lahore. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan obtained the degree of LL.B. in 1991.
His grandfather, Rana Inayat Khan was a Member of Legislative Assembly, Kapurthala State India. His father, Rana Abdul Rahim was a senior lawyer and also an active worked for restoration of democracy during dictatorship. His father served as Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association, Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council and Member Pakistan Bar Council.
Political Career of Rana Mashhood
Rana Mashhood is a practicing lawyer who served as Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association in the year 2001 and has the honor of being elected as the youngest Secretary in the history of High Court Bar Association. He is also a member of International Bar Association.
He has also served as Chairman Legal Aid Committee (1993), Chairperson of ARD’s Legal Committee and President of Lawyer Forum Punjab. He remained Vice President (Punjab) of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from 2000 to 2008. First time in 2002, he won the election from constituency PP-149 on PMLN Ticket. In that time he was also candidate of Speaker Punjab Assembly and District Nazim, Lahore.
In general elections 2008, he won the election of Member Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on PML (N) ticket from the same constituency for the second consecutive term. He was elected as Deputy Speaker, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab unopposed on April 11, 2008. He also looks after Youth Affairs & Sports, and Archeology & Tourism Departments. He organized Punjab’s 1st Youth festival 2012 in which many world records where made for Pakistan.
In general election 2013 again elected as Member of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and took oath as Minister for School Education. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif entrusted him the additional charge of Higher Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Archeology & Tourism Departments.
He organized Punjab Youth Festival 2014. On 29th March 2016 he decided to focus his full concentration on Education Department which was the need of the day that’s why he was resigned from Higher Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Archeology & Tourism Departments to focus on the School Education Department to complete the project of the Chief Minister of Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif; namely ‘Parho Punjab Barho Punjab’.
