The #MeToo movement has expanded and several perpetrators of sexual abuse, assault and harassment have been brought to light. Women have been coming forward and sharing their stories of sexual harassment.
Rajinikanth, the megastar who newly wrapped up the shoot of Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, remarked on the movement. At a recent media dealing he alleged that it’s a constructive movement for women; however they should use it appropriately and not misuse it.
He was again asked about singer Chinmayi’s sexual harassment allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu. Rajinikanth said that Viaramuthu has denied the allegations. He has declared that no such episode happened and has called for a lawful answer.
The Petta actor was also asked about the Sabarimala decision and the consequent aggression that resulted in Kerala, where women were harassed for trying to enter the temple.
Rajini said that we should value Supreme Court’s judgment. However we should also think about the customs and traditions of the temples and respect them as well.
