Seems like the new Prime Minister is staying true to his word. Just this Wednesday Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting to review progress on conversion of PM House into a university! It was decided in the meeting that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairman would head a committee tasked with the operational affairs and design of the university.
It also approved constitution of separate committees for evaluation of the draft charter for the university and selection of its vice chancellor. The minister concerned for education would head the search committee for the selection of a vice chancellor. The meeting was attended by Education, Professional Training, National History & Heritage Minister Shafqat Mahmood, HEC Chairman Tariq Banuri and other officials of the HEC, PM Office media wing confirmed.
The meeting approved establishment of Institute of Advance Studies in the first phase which would formally kick off educational activities in the designated place. It was also decided to hold a conference titled Emerging Challenges For Pakistan & The Region in the new educational institute during the month of December.
Separately, Imran Khan said that his government was fully committed to ending polio in the country. In his message on World Polio Day, the PM expressed confidence that the goal of polio eradication would be achieved to ensure good health of the country’s children. “I am confident that together with our people, we will achieve a safer, healthier and a polio-free Pakistan for our children,” the PM Tweeted.
