Panama Case Latest Update

As Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate the cases regarding findings and allegations on Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and family by Joint Investigation Team (JIT). NAB courts have ordered Sharif family to appear in court but all of the convicted family members are out of the country, including main respondent Mian Nawaz Shareef. While NAB is investigating the case under the supervision of a judge from Supreme Court, Sharif family decided to file a review plea against disqualification of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.

Supreme Court will hear a review plea filed by ex PM Nawaz Sharif and his children challenging his disqualification in Panama paper case scandal. The hearing will take place on 12th September, 2017. This review plea will hear by the same 3 member panel headed by “Justice Ijaz Afzal” that disqualified Nawaz Sharif. Other members of the bench are “Justice Azmat Saeed”, and “Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan”. It was on 28th of July that Pakistan’s top court has disqualified Mr Sharif to continue the office for dishonesty. It has been requested by the defendant  to supreme court to cancel the decision of Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification, and stop the investigations on NAB references until the review decision by the same bench.

Nawaz Sharif’s children and Pakistan’s Finance minister Ishaq Dar filed a separate petition challenged the July 28th verdict of Supreme court.
