A man in Khanewal claimed to be the eleventh Caliph of Islam in a private gathering was charged with blasphemy on Monday. The fake pir was imprisoned under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance at the Thattha Sadiqabad Police Station in District Khanewal.
Police carried out an investigation after a video of the Peer named Farhan Ahmed claimed og being the eleventh caliph went viral on social media. In the video during a private gathering the peer claimed that news of his arrival had already given by Sufi saints and that the prime minister and army chief should swear their allegiance to him – reported Dawn news.
The reason/ cause behind the claim is uncovered; it is also assumed that the man may be suffering from mental impairment. He has been currently shifted to Multan Central Prison.
