Honorable Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has decided the fate of disqualified members of Parliament. Five member bench of SC unanimously issued the verdict that disqualified members of the parliament under the Article 62(1)(f) will not be able to contest the elections for the rest of their life, and this disqualification under 62-1/f of the constitution of Pakistan.
According to the sources, this historic decision from SC of Pakistan will entirely change the course of Pakistani politics. Former chief of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Ex-prime minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif was disqualified for life and many members of his party disagreed with the decision taken by SC and they expressed their views on his disqualification for life. The sitting PM Abbasi said that only decision that matters is of the public and they have not accepted the disqualification of their beloved leader. Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said Nawaz Sharif is the name of an ideology of public service.
Opposition leader Khursheed Shah said former PM Nawaz Sharif was the one who supported Article 62 in past against many other politicians and today he has become the victim of it himself. He further said, “This is the same article given to the country by Zia-ul-Haq when Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister. And I want to let politicians know that democracy and politics can only work if the supremacy of Parliament is accepted. If Parliament is respected then decisions are made by the people and Parliament”. the opposition leader said while speaking to media people in Islamabad.
