Court Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants for Ayyan Ali in a Currency Smuggling Case

The Custom court has issued Non-bailable arrest warrants for model Ayyan Ali on Saturday in the currency smuggling case.

Customs Court Judge Arshad Bhutta was hearing the case and he remarked that Ayyan has failed to appear in the court before. He also discarded an appeal filed by the defendant’s counsel to suspend the case.

The court ordered Ayyan to be present in court for the next hearing planned for October 22. Customs prosecutor Amin Feroz apprised the judge that the charge s had remained persistently absent in as many as 50 proceedings.

In March 2015, Ayyan was taken into custody at Rawalpindi’s old Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while she was supposedly trying to smuggle $506,800 to United Arab Emirates.

She was sent to Adiala jail and the interior ministry placed her on the Exit Control List. However she consequently left for Dubai after she was released on payment and court ordered the exclusion of her name from the ECL.
