Raja Ashfaq Sarwar is a member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly from PP-1 (Rawalpindi-I) and is the Provincial minister of Labour & Human Resource. He is a veteran politician.


Education and Family of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, born on the 27th of October, 1954 at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, hails from the village of Ghora Gali in the Murree Hills and is the eldest son of Raja Ghulam Sarwar (late) a two-time member of West Pakistan Assembly. He attended Lawrence College, the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California.

His cousin, Raja Fiaz Sarwar also served as Member of Punjab Assembly during 2008-13.


Political Career of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar

He has remained Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab for four consecutive terms during 1988-90, 1990-93, 1993-96 & 1997-99; and has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the fifth term in general elections 2013 and is functioning as Minister for Labour and Human Resource.

He also functioned as Minister for Labour and Manpower during 1988-90; as Minister for Wildlife, Fisheries and Youth Affairs during 1990-93; as Minister for Health and Population Welfare during 1997-99; and as Advisor to Chief Minister during 2008.
