Ramesh Kumar is a Member of National Assembly on the reserved seat from PML-N for minorities. On Saturday, April 8th, 2018 he decided to join Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). He announced to part ways from PML-N and become part of PTI in a joint press conference in Islamabad with PTI chairman Imran Khan.
According to the sources, the main reason for him to leave PML-N was the Ranting against the state institutions from PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and other senior members of the party. He said party members and many federal ministers from PML-N used very aggressive language to criticise the state institutions especially honorable judiciary and Supreme Court after the decisions verdicts taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on different references after Panama Papers case.
Upon a question from a journalist during the press conference about other members of PML-N he said they are willing to join PTI. He further said, “Soon people will also be hearing Chaudary Nisar leaving the party and joining PTI”. He said Ch Nisar is like my elder brother & a real well-wisher of Pakistan. Ramesh Kumar is one of the few who raised their voice against the official Government’s decision to the privatization of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
