When you’re working long hours on the computer running from one business lunch to the next, you sometimes forget to take care of your diet. These bad eating habits lead to you gaining weight. Here are some habits you should avoid!
Eating low-fat foods
Foods that are labeled low-fat or fat-free can save you a few calories but they do this. Replacing fat with sugar and other chemicals is actually worse because they digest more quickly than fat and leave you feeling more hungry. The best approach is to eat with nutrition in mind. Remember a low-fat donut is still a donut.
You sleeping too little or too much
According to Wake Forest researchers, those who sleep five hours or less put makes you gain more weight as opposed to getting an eight hour sleep.
You eat too quickly
If your body has one major flaw this is it. It takes 20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that it’s had enough. A study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that slow eaters took in 66 fewer calories per meal. But compared to their fast eating peers they felt like they had eaten more. So eat slower and gain less weight.
You watch too much TV
A University of Vermont study found that overweight participants who reduced their TV time by just 50% burnt an additional 119 calories a day on average.
You avoid all fats
You know that eating trans fats can increase your risk of heart disease, weight gain and stroke. So you’re smart to stay away but not all fats need to make your do not eat list consuming healthy fats. Like flax seeds and nuts can actually help you slim down and stay healthy. Fats not only help us absorb many of the vitamins from our diets but they also help keep us fuller longer which can aid weight loss efforts. Anini explains she suggests consuming one serving of healthy fats each time you sit down to eat.
